Clean operations for climate protection

With our mission to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, we strive for clean operations for climate protection. We are doing this by committing ourselves to a set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions target by 2030 in line with the Paris Agreement through the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and investing €7 billion to reach it. With this investment, we will increase our use of sustainable aviation fuels, design all new buildings carbon neutral, offer a comprehensive portfolio of green products and electrify 60% of our last-mile delivery. Then we will have more than 80,000 e-vehicles on the road.

Our aspirations

Based on SBTi, our goal is to reduce our GHG emissions from 40 million metric tons CO2e to under 29 million by 2030. We plan to achieve our target through the following aspirations:

Measuring carbon emissions

An important prerequisite for developing effective carbon efficiency measures is transparency with regard to the type and amount of greenhouse gas emissions. We calculate them based on widely-accepted international standards and work to continuously improve the quality of the data.

Managing subcontractors

Relevant emissions for our climate protection goal include emissions generated by our own logistics-related activities, emissions attributed to the energy we purchase, and emissions generated by our transport partners.
