Helping each other
Despite being spread across the globe, we are a close-knit community. Our support programs allow us to help each other no matter where it is needed.
In a world that’s more connected than ever, the true strength of a global team lies in its unity and willingness to support one another. Adversity doesn’t discriminate, so when one of us faces a challenge, we all stand ready to lend a hand.
Why we help each other
At DHL Group, we understand that our vast network of employees is not just a workforce but a family that spans continents. This sense of global camaraderie drives our commitment to helping each other in times of need.
We know there is strength in numbers. Stretching across more than 220 countries and territories, our 600,000 people can be a powerful force for good. While we primarily channel that energy to benefit our customers, communities, and other stakeholders, we also leverage our compassion and team spirit to help each other.
We developed We Help Each Other (WHEO) and other internal support programs to help colleagues in need when they need it. Whether affected by natural disasters, armed conflict, or socio-economic circumstances, we want to be able to help them as quickly and efficiently as possible.
How we help each other
We have several programs to support our colleagues in a variety of ways.
We Help Each Other (WHEO Fund)
Whenever a natural disaster strikes, there’s a good chance one or more of our colleagues have been impacted by it. If they have suffered material damage, we can provide emergency financial assistance through WHEO. The initiative also supports colleagues forced to flee their home countries or harmed due to armed conflicts. WHEO is employee-funded, with DHL Group matching all donations. The framework is uncomplicated and designed to make sending money directly to colleagues in need quick and easy, with minimal red tape.
UPstairs
We believe in investing in the next generation and helping young people shape a brighter future for themselves and their families. Through the UPstairs program, we support the education aspirations of DHL Group employees’ children by helping them gain access to educational opportunities that may be out of reach. Eligible employees may apply for an UPstairs scholarship, with hundreds awarded every year.
The impact of helping each other
Since its inception in 2010, WHEO has provided support to more than 3,600 colleagues around the world. And DHL Group has matched all employee donations since 2021.
